I’m A Dork So You Don’t Have To Be

Friday, October 29th, 2004

I’ve mentioned it before but it’s worth repeating:

Why the hell aren’t you using Sunbird for all your calendar and scheduling needs? Yes it’s still in development but it is far better than whatever calendar you’re using right now. Compatible with any calendar app that uses ics files. Just publish your ics files and import them to another calendar. I enabled a WebDAV location on a Web server where the wife and I publish to the same calendars. No more mutual back and forth required, we just enter in an event and it appears on both of our calendars. Overlay your calendars, import calendars from others, subscribe to remote calendars, interact with your calendar files using freely available PHP scripts.

Come on people! Get with it!

By the way, like the other Mozilla apps, Sunbird is available for all platforms including Mac.

So if I’m the former Supremes, I’m thinking of suing me some U2 and scoring millions in royalties for the rip off of “You Keep Me Hanging On” on U2’s latest over-hyped “Vertigo” song (the one in the iPod commercials).

A Cup of Comfort

Saturday, October 16th, 2004

So we’re in Walmart again (because we rural Mainers LOOOOVE us some Walmart for our every shopping need) and we’re in the book section and they have these three books in a series called A Cup Of Comfort.

“Look,” I say, “You’re two out of three of those.” I’m referring, of course, to A Cup of Comfort for Teachers and A Cup of Comfort for Women.

“You don’t see any Cup of Comfort for Burly Men,” the Tart responds.

“You’re right,” I say, “No, Cup of Comfort for the NASCAR Fan or Cup of Comfort for the Guy in Flannel either.”

I’m just saying: Sometimes I need a cup of comfort too after a long session of tinkering in the garage or changing the oil on the car.

The book series has its own Web site. Looks like someone needs a Cup of Comfort for the Design Impaired.
