i really liked the song. im a young un it seems since i didnt know that this was an old song remixed. i think it sounds really good. granted the song and the commercial dont really have much to do with eachother, but its a really nice job on the music. i mean i looked up the song “breathe” after i heard it on a mitsubishi commercial. jus because someone does a remix or a cover on an old song that you liked shouldnt get your panties in a bunch, instead it should spark up some good old memories and conversation just like it has here. =)

Actually, I arrived here doing this search because i thought, now that’s a cover of that song that I like, I wonder who did it. Anyway, the voice is Joanna Jahn.. and the recording was done only for the tv ad. This sort of thing doesn’t upset me, it’s just what happens. It’s hard to imagine that any song that gets used twenty or so years later in a commercial didn’t means something special to somebody. Sadly, the same people it’s pissing off could be the same people that first thought of it.

Or… something that scares me. It’s teenagers googling it because they think it’s some new, cool song and they want it. That bothers me. It’s my song. I don’t want to share it with today’s youth. They just don’t get it!

I haven’t done the math but I would estimate that about 80% of my site traffic in the time since I wrote this has come from Google searches for “Payless Shoes, Bizarre Love Triangle” which indicates to me that there are a whole lot of people like I was:

“Was that Bizarre Love Triangle? Did they just play Bizarre Love Triangle to shoes?”

I’ll tell you what, Payless Shoes: There’s more like me and we want someone’s job over this!

Z is right, “Break My Stride” for Depends was a classy choice.

This site has other ’80’s songs used in commercials. (About.com page so beware of popups)

I am so with you on this! Bizarre Love Triangle is one of my favorite songs and I was LIVID when I saw that commerical for the first time. It’s insane.

I considered the line crossed when Matthew Wilder’s “Ain’t Nothing Going To Break My Stride” ended up in a Depends commercial.
