Now Playing: The Cake Sale

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Now that’s a nice song. If you like the guy from Snow Patrol, then you’ll enjoy this song. Here’s a link to the whole album from which you may download another free Cake Sale MP3 if you want.

By the way, if you haven’t checked it out yet, Amazon’s MP3 Download offering is nice. While Apple has a good thing going, Amazon is offering music for less, at a higher quality, and free of DRM limitations. This last point, most importantly, means you can play these MP3s on whatever player or software you want.

Chinese Lanterns

Went to see the Chinese lanterns at the Montreal Botanical Garden this past Sunday. It was gorgeous. The theme was “Heaven and Earth.” Click on an image to view it larger on top. Be sure to scroll all available images with the arrow at the bottom.

When The News Is Bored With The News

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

When The News (not this News) gets bored with the news, it is decided that the Greatest Hits of the news shall be revisited. And so, today I read this:

Baby Jessica waits to collect $1M fund

Why are we revisiting this woman? And why are we asking her how she’s doing? She was two-years-old and she doesn’t remember falling in the pipe and she didn’t keep the Get Well fuzzy clown card you sent her back then, even though she was two-years-old and couldn’t read.

Now let’s stop this Baby Jessica business once and for all and devote our full attention to the real reason why my sweet, sweet Diana is no more.

Now Playing: Justin Roberts

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

After a year of listening to him, we took the kids to see Justin Roberts & The Not Ready For Naptime Players in concert this past weekend. The kids were starstruck at the sight of this guy they’ve heard and sung along to for so long. We were thinking they would belt out all the songs they knew but they were mostly giddily bopping on our laps while semi-mouthing the words instead of jumping repeatedly like some of the other kids there.

Justin Roberts is, in our opinion, far and away the best kids act around. No hushed voices and baby sleepytime lyrics. Alisa and I find ourselves listening and singing along to his music when the kids aren’t even around. I mean, take a listen to a song like Day Camp and if you tell me it doesn’t rock then I don’t want to know you, kind sir.
