Now Playing: The Devil Makes Three
Saturday, January 19th, 2008A great song from The Devil Makes Three. These guys are fun. Download Old Number Seven DRM-free from Amazon. Amazon MP3s can be played on any device and are not locked to one type of device.
By the way, if you haven’t checked it out yet, Amazon’s MP3 Download offering is nice. While Apple has a good thing going, Amazon is offering music for less, at a higher quality, and free of DRM limitations. This last point, most importantly, means you can play these MP3s on whatever player or software you want.
“What’s Up” With That?
Saturday, December 15th, 2007Ever since you can download Music Choice videos on Tivo, I’ve been making for my own personal MTV. It’s good filler to watch in between this and that and the lineup of available videos changes a lot.
Alisa humors me even when I download 4 Non Blondes like last night. Really, I can’t say I had ever seen the full video for “What’s Up” though I do know the lead singer, Linda Perry, wore a ridiculous hat in it. So we’re talking about how big Linda’s mouth is in that video and when the thing is over, it says “1990″ which is ridiculous. 17 years ago? Really? Alisa and I envision Linda Perry all tamed and suburban housewifed. Hopping in the minivan to bring the kids to sports, stopping for a grande mucho con chocolato or whatever drink of the day at a local Starbucks, hair all straightened and styled.
I look the woman up and it turns out she has a pretty successful career writing and producing for modern pop stars like Pink and Christina Aquilera. She wrote Aguilera’s “Beautiful” among other songs for Pink, Courtney Love, and others.
So Linda Perry is doing just fine for herself, thank you very much, and she doesn’t care how you feel about the big hat with goggles thing.
Now Playing: The Cake Sale
Thursday, October 25th, 2007Now that’s a nice song. If you like the guy from Snow Patrol, then you’ll enjoy this song. Here’s a link to the whole album from which you may download another free Cake Sale MP3 if you want.

Now Playing: Justin Roberts
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007After a year of listening to him, we took the kids to see Justin Roberts & The Not Ready For Naptime Players in concert this past weekend. The kids were starstruck at the sight of this guy they’ve heard and sung along to for so long. We were thinking they would belt out all the songs they knew but they were mostly giddily bopping on our laps while semi-mouthing the words instead of jumping repeatedly like some of the other kids there.
Justin Roberts is, in our opinion, far and away the best kids act around. No hushed voices and baby sleepytime lyrics. Alisa and I find ourselves listening and singing along to his music when the kids aren’t even around. I mean, take a listen to a song like Day Camp and if you tell me it doesn’t rock then I don’t want to know you, kind sir.
