Chickens Just Back From The Shore
Monday, July 14th, 2008Have you seen this yet?
Sesame Street just gets better and better. Well, except for the emphasis on Elmo.
Do Yourself A Favor
Saturday, December 15th, 2007If you use RSS to get your Innanet content fix, do yourself a favor and add the feed for The Daily Puppy. It’s a daily smile waiting for you in your reader. I mean, other than the ones you already get from Cute Overload (whom I wish the powers that be would allow to caption any and all photos on the Web).
They also make The Daily Kitten if you want that too.
And yes, looking at pictures of cute animals is one of the best uses for the Innanet.
“Burn The Bike You Rode In On” Hot
Saturday, October 27th, 2007Note To Self #1679
Saturday, March 3rd, 2007Next time I’m to buy a commercial pasta machine, be sure to buy direct and “cut out the middleman.”
If only I had an extra $32K…
Or if only a $32K tortellini maker was also driveable.
American Pachinko
Tuesday, July 25th, 2006A few weeks back, I had this memory I couldn’t get out of my head. Sometime around 1983-ish, my family had this game thing that my sister and I loved to play all the time. It involved a ball and pegs and guiding the ball to where it was supposed to go. The best I could think of it was that it was some kind of pachinko machine but cheap and all plastic. I didn’t really remember what it looked like. Strangely, I asked Alisa about it and she remembers having one too.
I spent a good hour looking for information on the mystery thing I was trying to remember and finally came up with something on an Ebay search. American Pachinko. When I saw the pictures, I immediately recognized the thing.
Any information I’ve found has told me that Pressman made this thing in the early seventies. So, maybe my dad picked it up at a garage sale or the company made it into the eighties.
I would be interested to know, dear Innanet reader, just how popular these things were. If you had one too, leave a comment.

So what were we excited about with this thing? Oh, a good ol’ fashioned Americanized and stripped down version of Japanese gambling. Wheeee!
Across The Universe
Friday, July 14th, 2006I’d love to have the time to do some kind of statistical analysis on the Miss Universe contestants but, instead, I’ll just have to say it’s fun to look at their last online interview question: “What makes you unique and different from the other contestants?”
Most of the contestants are divided between (1) saying they believe their personalities set them apart while telling us that they are sure the other women are also unique and (2) saying that their desire to reach their goals sets them apart. In other words, the same garbage that they think everyone wants to hear - proving that shoveling it is truly universal.
Personally, I’ll be cheering for Miss Croatia and Miss Guyana.
Miss Croatia provides two of life’s requirements, food and shelter, on her own! She cooks and currently has her own apartment! Awesome!
I love Miss Guyana: “I possess the uncanny ability to read and write upside down (opposite directions, reverse direction).” I looked at every contestant and I’m pretty sure she’s the only one that identified having a weird talent and that rocks.
I’m supposed to be all about cheering for the USA but Miss USA wants us to know that she’s real. What does that even mean? That’s what sets her apart? She’s the only contestant to have used that phrase too which, I guess, must be a USA thing to say.
