Someone Or Something Is Going To Smite Thee

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Me: “Look, there’s a buddha.”
Her: “I don’t like the fat buddhas as much as I like the ones you see in Thailand.”
Me: “What about the fat buddha sitting in our garden?”
Her: “That’s all they had at Walmart.”

Nuttiness

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

I’m at work today and I’m having a snack from a can of cashews that I previously brought. On the back, under the very obvious ingredients, it says:

Allergen Information: Contains Cashews. Manufactured in a facility that processes: peanuts, almonds, brazil nuts, filberts, pecans, pistachios, macadamia nuts, walnuts, soy, milk, wheat

Wouldn’t it be easier to just write, “Manufactured in a nut allergy death factory. Stay away.”

I don’t get why some nuts come with nut allergy information anyway. If you have a nut allergy, do you really spend your time browsing for nuts at the store in the hope that you’ll find new cashew-free cashews?

“Ingredients… Cashews… Aw hell!”

I am into neither trucks nor WOW but this commercial cracks me up:

A Reminder From The Mystical Realms

Monday, August 27th, 2007

On my way to work, I saw a vanity plate that said, “HGWART.” On my way back from work, I saw a vanity plate that said, “GRIFNDR.” I suppose a certain movie franchise is trying to remind me to make an addition to the Netflix queue.

Underappreciated

You just don’t appreciate a free toothpaste tube roller upper until you want to use it and can’t find it.

It was one of the more useful free conference goodie bag giveaways that the wife has brought home. Really now, does anyone actually buy a toothpaste tube roller?

A Case Of The Queueties

Friday, June 15th, 2007

You’ve got one of those movie rental queue services - Netflix, Blockbuster, or what have you - and you’re getting your three movies out at a time.

So inevitably, you get that movie in the mail that just kind of sits around for a while. That’s right, that one DVD has a case of the queueties.

Sure, it was next on your queue but two months go by and it’s like you might as well be on a two-movie plan because you’re still not feeling up to watching that lingering movie #3.

Of course, after having the thing around for more than a month, you’d think the sensible thing would be to just send it back and move it somewhere lower in your queue so you can get back to having three movies that you want to see at a time. But, no… one month in and it’s like a personal challenge. Two months in and it’s going for a record and you’ve got to see that record through. When will you break down and just “Oh all right! I’ll just watch it!”

Superhot and I had The Power Of One last year for, I’m pretty sure, almost four months. It was just never strong enough against the competition.
